Who Trains at Le Coach? Bodybuilders, Boxers, Powerlifters & Beginners
There can be an assumption that because Le Coach Fitness has its roots in bodybuilding, you need to be a bodybuilder to train here.
Spend an hour on the gym floor and you’ll quickly realise that isn’t the case.
Yes, you’ll find competitive bodybuilders. But you’ll also find powerlifters chasing bigger numbers, boxers building strength and conditioning, people training for HYROX, runners preparing for their next race and members who simply want to get stronger, fitter and healthier.
Different goals. Different training styles. But one thing in common: people come here to train with purpose.
Bodybuilders: Where It All Started
Bodybuilding will always be a big part of Le Coach. The gym was founded by professional bodybuilder Nathaniel Goldstein and has been deliberately built with physique development in mind, from specialist resistance machines to a dedicated posing room.
That environment attracts everyone from first-time competitors to established athletes. IFBB Bikini Pro Kirsty Bentley credits the quality and variety of the equipment, alongside the atmosphere created by other driven athletes, as an important part of her training.
Then there are members like Khai Wern, who entered her first bodybuilding competition simply looking for a new challenge and finished her debut season as UKDFBA Open Women’s Bikini Overall Champion.
Powerlifters and Strength Athletes
Strength training might share the gym floor with bodybuilding, but the goals can look very different.
Where bodybuilding focuses on physique development, powerlifting focuses on the squat, bench press and deadlift, with progress measured by the weight on the bar.
That’s why our equipment isn’t limited to bodybuilding machines. Our dedicated powerlifting area includes commercial grade squat racks, specialist competition bars, an IPF approved competition bench and calibrated plates, giving serious strength athletes the equipment to train properly too.
Boxers and Competitive Athletes
Then there are athletes whose main sport happens outside the gym altogether.
Amateur boxer Harry Bandoo uses Le Coach alongside his boxing training. The gym has a dedicated boxing area with battle ropes, a full size punch bag and water bag, while the treadmill, strength equipment and recovery support all complement his work in the ring.
Harry probably sums up the Le Coach approach better than we could: he isn’t a bodybuilder or powerlifter, and that doesn’t matter. What he values is training alongside dedicated athletes from different disciplines and having a community that takes an interest in each other’s progress.
HYROX, Runners and Hybrid Training
Not everyone wants to build the biggest physique or lift the heaviest barbell either.
Members also use Le Coach for HYROX training, combining running with strength and functional exercises across eight different workout stations.
And runners use the gym to complement their mileage with strength, mobility and cross training. We’ve helped dozens of members prepare for the Cambridge Half Marathon, using everything from free weights and resistance machines to treadmills, rowers and assault bikes.
And People Who Just Want to Train
You don’t need a competition date in your diary to belong at Le Coach. Some members are experienced athletes. Others are walking into a serious gym as complete beginners.
What connects them isn’t how much they lift or whether they compete. It’s an environment where training matters.
That’s reflected in what our members tell us too. In our survey of female members, 79% said the presence of like minded, serious athletes helped make Le Coach a comfortable place to train, while 74% said the strong sense of community was key to their positive experience.
And that’s really who trains at Le Coach Fitness. Bodybuilders. Powerlifters. Boxers. HYROX athletes. Runners. Beginners. People training for a competition and people training entirely for themselves. A serious gym isn’t one that only welcomes serious athletes. It’s one that takes everyone’s training seriously.
